#002 THE MAN, HIS WIFE, THE DONKEY AND THE CRITICS

Our society!!!

An old man, his wife and a donkey were going to town. His wife rode on the donkey and the old man walked. As they went along, they passed some people who remarked it was a shame the old man was walking and his wife was riding. The man and his wife thought maybe the critics were right, so they changed positions.
Then, later, they passed some people who remarked, "What a shame, he makes his wife walk." So they then decided they'd both walk!
Soon they passed some more people who thought they were fools to walk when they had a decent donkey to ride. So, they both rode the donkey.
Now they passed some people who shamed them by saying how awful to put such a load on a poor donkey.
The woman and her husband figured they were probably right, so they decided to carry the donkey. As they crossed the bridge, they lost their grip on the animal and he fell into the river and drowned.

The moral of the story? If you try to please everyone, you might as well... Kiss your “donkey" goodbye! And even this ending won’t please everyone.

Here is another way but similar, anyway the moral is not difficult to be understood.

Could you add moral number 4? I'd like you to comment it and share it if you find it useful. I'll answer your comments as soon as possible. :)

  1. I totally agree. Whatever you do, you will always be criticized. Life is very short and we don't live to please others. You have to do what you want, without hurting anyone :)

    1. It's true, life is short and it's impossible to please every single person in the world. We must act in accordance with our principles.

  2. It is totally true we can't please everyone as much as we would like and I think we shouldn't feel bad about ourselves.
in my opinion I think that although we give the best of ourselves we will never be able to please absolutely everyone because we are imperfect, because there will always be people who criticize us but it is our decision to listen to them

    1. Right, It's up to us if we wanna listen to them or not, the bottom line is that we should please our Lord who is always there for us. See you.

  3. Personally, I believe that we shouldn't allow change our thinkig only for one o two reason, we need to remember that there are many point of view, some we won't like. Usually, more people want to adjust their behavior according for the situation, this is a awful behavior.
I do think I cannot please everyone and I remenber a phrase: "You should show yourself as you are".

    1. Nice phrase, however it's difficult, I mean we behave accoding to the situation for instance if you are with your friends your behaviour is different to a situation like being at work or in a job interview, do you know what I mean? I know one is informal and the other formal, but isn't it better if we behave in a similar way, I mean not the same but not so different as it tends to happen.

  4. I think the criticism is good because it gives you another vision that maybe you did not see ... but much more important is knowing how to differentiate between a criticism that is correct and helps you in life and another that may not have certainty

maybe the number four .... be open to constructive criticism

    1. A valid comment, however we gotta be careful cus' sometimes destructive criticism is disguised as constructive criticism.

  5. In my opinion, we should stop being guided by other people and only continue with our thoughts, because this are correct for us. We must be ourselves.

    1. I agree with you, bad influence or comments can destroy people, especially for the ones whose selfesteem is low. TC

  6. I agree;because if you feel good with your actions you should do it and I think you shouldn't be guided by other people and listen to that others say to offend you with criticism or make you feel bad.
*About number 4 I think you should make constructive criticism, no destructive

  7. The story is true. Usually, many people like to talk about other people inclusive that they don’t meet them really well and sometimes this bad actions can hurt some feelings, but they don't think about it. Maybe you'll do actions that you wouldn’t do normally and probably you'll take bad decisions because exist many people can talk bad of you. Finally, you shouldn’t hear this comments and in all circumstances, you have to think before you act, only you know the best way to follow according with your principles and people should respect you.

    1. Yup, sticking to our principles is fundamental and if we want people to respect us, we must be respectful as well.

  8. Live life by your conscience and value. Whatever you do, someone will always find a way to see it as negative - no matter how good your intentions are. We see that all of the times - especially, some of us who find ourselves in leadership positions.

The very good intentions intended for the benefit of all will be twisted to suit someone's negative perception. And since you cannot please everyone, be sure you're doing the right thing, and do things right.

In my opinion, it's impossible to please and make everyone happy. So, we just have to live our life in our own way while still respecting others and prioritizing ourselves and the people we really care about. - Moral number 4: Our happiness doesn’t depend on the acceptance of others.
