#075 THE SHARK AND THE BAIT FISH

Image
Have you ever wondered what is stopping you from doing something that you truly want or getting something that you have always wanted to have? What is holding you back from making a move and starting to make your way to your goals? How many excuses do you still have to tell yourself just so you could feel better about not taking that big leap? During a research experiment a marine biologist placed a shark into a large holding tank and then released several small bait fish into the tank. As you would expect, the shark quickly swam around the tank, attacked and ate the smaller fish. The marine biologist then inserted a strong piece of clear fiberglass into the tank, creating two separate partitions. She then put the shark on one side of the fiberglass and a new set of bait fish on the other. Again, the shark quickly attacked. This time, however, the shark slammed into the fiberglass divider and bounced off.  Undeterred, the shark kept repeating this behavior every few minu...

#074 THE TWO FRIENDS AND THE BEAR

Image
Vijay and Raju were friends. One day while on holiday, exploring a forest t hey knew that anything dangerous can happen to them at any time in there. So they promised each other that they would remain united in any case of danger.   Suddenly, they saw a large bear approaching them. Naturally, they were both frightened, so Raju, who knew how to climb trees, climbed one quickly. He didn’t spare a thought for his friend who had no idea how to climb. Vijay thought for a moment. He had heard that animals don’t attack dead bodies, so he fell to the ground and held his breath. The bear sniffed him,  it smelt in his ears,   thought he was dead, and went on its way slowly be cause the bears do not touch the dead creatures. Raju, after he had climbed down from the tree asked Vijay, “What did  the bear  whisper in your ears?” Vijay replied,  “The bear advised me not to believe a false friend and to  keep away from you.” Moral of the st...

#042 WHO IS THE HAPPIEST?

Image
A crow lived in the forest and was absolutely satisfied in life. But one day he saw a swan. “This swan is so white,” he thought, “and I am so black. This swan must be the happiest bird in the world.” He expressed his thoughts to the swan. “Actually,” the swan replied, “I was feeling that I was the happiest bird around until I saw a parrot, which has two colors. I now think the parrot is the happiest bird in creation.” The crow then approached the parrot. The parrot explained, “I lived a very happy life until I saw a peacock. I have only two colors, but the peacock has multiple colors.” The crow then visited a peacock in the zoo and saw that hundreds of people had gathered to see him. After the people had left, the crow approached the peacock. “Dear peacock,” the crow said, “you are so beautiful. Every day thousands of people come to see you. When people see me, they immediately shoo me away. I think you are the happiest bird on the planet.” The peacock replied, “I alw...

#034 THE NATURE OF THE SCORPION

Image
A wise man saw a scorpion drowning and decided to draw it from the water, and when he did, the scorpion stung him. Because of the pain, the master dropped the animal which fell in the water. The master attempted a second time to get it out of the water and the animal stung him again. Someone who was observing approached the master and said:-. Excuse me, but you are stubborn! Don't you understand that whenever you’ll attempt to pull it out of the water, it will sting you?  The master replied: the nature of the scorpion is to sting, and this will not change mine which is to help. Then, he was able to see a leaf and using it, the master drew the scorpion from the water and saved its life and continued: - Do not change your nature if someone hurts you; just take precautions.  Some pursue happiness, others create it. When life presents you thousands of reasons to cry, show it that you have a thousand reasons to smile. Worry more about your consciousness than your repu...

A poor family lives in a remote village and this family owns one cow.  Each day they live from the milk of the cow.  If there is little milk, they eat little.  It there is lots of milk, they eat well.   The lives of the mother, the father and the children depend on the cow. One autumn day, a traveller stops in the village. He is hungry, so the family shares their milk.  The traveller is grateful, so he wishes to return the favour and help the family.  He doesn’t know how to help the family, but he hears that there is a wise man in the village.  He walks over to the home of the wise man. “I was hungry and the family fed me. I would like to help them. How can I help this family?” The wise man said “Kill the cow.” “Kill it? How can that help them? They depend for their lives on that cow.” The wise man repeated “Kill the cow.” The traveller was nervous about that strange recommendation, but at the end he did it.  He was...

#002 THE MAN, HIS WIFE, THE DONKEY AND THE CRITICS

Image
Our society!!! An old man, his wife and a donkey were going to town. His wife rode on the donkey and the old man walked. As they went along, they passed some people who remarked it was a shame the old man was walking and his wife was riding. The man and his wife thought maybe the critics were right, so they changed positions. Then, later, they passed some people who remarked, "What a shame, he makes his wife walk." So they then decided they'd both walk! Soon they passed some more people who thought they were fools to walk when they had a decent donkey to ride. So, they both rode the donkey.  Now they passed some people who shamed them by saying how awful to put such a load on a poor donkey. The woman and her husband figured they were probably right, so they decided to carry the donkey. As they crossed the bridge, they lost their grip on the animal and he fell into the river and drowned. The moral of the story? If you try to please everyone, ...
