#040 MOTHER'S LOVE AND A GREAT ANSWER

Image
One day, when Thomas Alva Edison was a small child, he came home from school and gave a paper to his mother. He told her, “My teacher gave this paper to me and told me to only give it to my mother.”  His mother’s eyes were tearful as she read the letter out loud to her child, “Your son is a genius. This school is too small for him and doesn’t have enough good teachers for training him. Please teach him yourself or find a wise man.” Many years after Edison’s mother had died, Edison had become one of the greatest inventors of the century. One day he was going through the old closet and he found a folded letter which was given to him by his teacher for his mother.  He opened it. The message written on the letter was, “Your son is addled (mentally ill). We can not let him attend our school anymore. He is expelled.” Edison became emotional reading it and then he wrote in his diary, “Thomas Alva Edison was a mentally ill child whose mother turned him into the genius...

#038 JUDGE ME BY THE FOOTPRINTS I LEAVE BEHIND

Image
A story is told about a soldier who was finally coming home after  having fought in Vietnam. He called his parents from San Francisco. "Mom and Dad, I'm coming home, but I've got a favour to ask.  I have a friend I'd like to bring with me." "Sure," they replied, "we'd love to meet him." "There's something you should know" The son continued,  "he was hurt pretty badly in the fighting. He stepped  on a land mined and lost an arm and a leg. He has  nowhere else to go, and I want him to come live with us." "I'm sorry to hear that, son.  Maybe we can help him find somewhere to live." The mother said "No, Mom and Dad, I want him to live with us." "Son," said the father, "you don't know what you're asking.  Someone with such a handicap would be a terrible burden on us.  We have our own lives to live, and we can't let somethin...

#020 I SWEAR I DIDN'T DRINK MUM

Image
I went to a party, Mum, I remembered what you said, You told me not to drink, Mum, so I drank soda instead, I felt really proud inside, Mum, the way you said I would, I didn’t drink and drive, Mum, even though others said I should. I know I did the right thing, Mum, I knew you’re always right, Now the party is finally ending, Mum, as everyone drives out of sight, As I got into my car, Mum, I know I’ll get home in one piece, Because of the way you raised me, Mum, as responsible and sweet. I started to drive away, Mum, but as I pulled onto the road The other car didn’t see me, Mum, and it hit me like a load. As I lie here on the pavement, Mum, I hear the policeman say The other guy is drunk, Mum, and I’m the one who’ll pay. I’m lying here dying, Mum, I wish you’d get here soon, How come this happened to me, Mum, my life burst like a balloon? There is blood all around me, Mum, most of it is mine, I hear the paramedic say, Mum, I’ll be dead in a short time...

#008 ARE YOU A CARROT, AN EGG, OR A COFFEE BEAN?

Image
A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her.  She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up.  She was tired of fighting and struggling.  It seemed as one problem was solved a new one arose. Her mother took her to the kitchen.  She filled three pots with water.  In the first, she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil without saying a word.  In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners.  She dished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl.  She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl.  Then she ladled the coffee into a bowl.  Turning to her daughter, she asked, “Tell me what you see?” “Carrots, eggs, and coffee,” she replied. She brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots.  She did and noted that they were soft.  She then asked her to take a...

Once a man published a job on the       internet and in newspapers, the name  of this job was “director of operations” and many people applied to get the position.
