#040 MOTHER'S LOVE AND A GREAT ANSWER



One day, when Thomas Alva Edison was a small child, he came home from school and gave a paper to his mother. He told her, “My teacher gave this paper to me and told me to only give it to my mother.” 

His mother’s eyes were tearful as she read the letter out loud to her child, “Your son is a genius. This school is too small for him and doesn’t have enough good teachers for training him. Please teach him yourself or find a wise man.”
Many years after Edison’s mother had died, Edison had become one of the greatest inventors of the century. One day he was going through the old closet and he found a folded letter which was given to him by his teacher for his mother. 

He opened it. The message written on the letter was, “Your son is addled (mentally ill). We can not let him attend our school anymore. He is expelled.”
Edison became emotional reading it and then he wrote in his diary, “Thomas Alva Edison was a mentally ill child whose mother turned him into the genius of the century.”
Remember that a Mother’s love and upbringing can help change the destiny of a child.

Thomas Edison tried two thousand different materials in search of a filament for the light bulb. When none worked satisfactorily, his assistant complained, “All our work is in vain. We have learned nothing, Not sure if we can use an electricity properly.”
Edison replied very confidently, “Oh, we have come a long way and we have learned a lot. We know that there are two thousand elements which we cannot use to make a good light bulb.”

Keep in mind that "We can also learn from our mistakes."

    Personally, I reckon that our words influence others strongly. His mother's answer was brilliant, because although his teacher did not believe in Thomas, she did. Throughout our life, we might find people who tell us that we can not achieve our goals, but we have to be sure of our abilities and we are able to do everything we want, but sometimes this doesn't happen, in these cases it's important to be near true friends and people who trust us to be more confident. They won't want that our dreams desappear, they will help us to achieve these.

      As you said, our words could influence other people a lot, so we better think twice before saying something negative to other people. In my experience, it happened to me when I was a musician, I wanted to play lots of instruments, unfortunately I listened to my teacher who told not to do it in that way but one by one.

    Parents are the first love for their children. But in the path that the children want to be like their parents trying to imitate them, parents always want that their children could be better that them. Personally, I think that a mother's love is purest and real love, there is not comparison, this story is a clear example about how the effort of a mother can help you to overcome all kind of obstacles and how her words can influence in their children. The Thomas's mother taught him to be patient and to be persistent, this is the second message from this story, we need to learn from our mistakes and keep to continue with the same attitude that we started.

      Great Carin, you got it. Real parents would die for us, their love is kinda similar to God's love, I mean they are like angels sent to us, to love us, to protect us, to give everything for us and even they are able to give us their food and starve... True love, isn't it?

    Is a very pretty reading, what get us a reflection very important...The family (the mom) is with we always for help us, protect us and teach us. its hard have a mentally ill, but still that the love of a mother is more big for make us be better day by day, Thomas is a example for this, he thanks of your mother makes what all know what in this world all is possible.

      That's right Natalia, mum is an unconditional person for us, her love is wholehearted that is why we should take care of her as much as possible and avoid arguing, in fact we must try to understand her. She loves us.

    In my opinion, I think that this reading gives us a lesson in life. The mother has an important role in the family because that is the person who teaches and guides from small. Personally, she is the person most unconditional and that will always help us to accomplish our goals will be in our triumphs and will also be in our failures. Nobody can judge by our appearances or knowledge. I believe in God and I know he gave us gifts for each one of us, children are humans of pure light!

    Hello, when I saw the title of the story, it immediately caught my attention because I’m a mother, after reading the story I couldn't avoid feeling a little bit identified and at the same time feel admiration for all the mothers in the world. I think that in general all the people who have the power to give an opinion which is capable of motivating or demotivating have a big responsibility because many things depend on that opinion to that person, this story teaches us to believe in people and also when they feel that confidence, they can believe even more in themselves and finally that the mother’s love for our children has no limits, we are capable of even what seems impossible for them because we know that they can do everything they propose in their life. Thanks for this beautiful story.

A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year-old grandson. The old man’s hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered. The family ate together at the table.  But the elderly grandfather’s shaky hands and failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor. When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth. The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess. “We must do something about father,” said the son. “I’ve had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor.”  So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner.
