Image
Once at an elegant welcome reception to the new Marketing Director of an important company, some of the other directors' wives, who wanted to meet the new Marketing Director's wife, asked her: Does your husband really make you happy? Her husband who wasn't with her at the moment, but close enough to hear the question, paid attention to the conversation and came closer to his wife because he was sure enough that she was going to say yes, due to the fact that she has never complained during the marriage. However to his surprise and the ones who attended to the reception she answered: "No, he doesn't make me happy" After a moment of awkward silence where her husband was petrified because he couldn't believe what she said and especially in such an important occasion for him, she repeated and continued: "He doesn't make me happy, I'm happy!" Then she added: "If I'm happy or not, it doesn't depend on him, it depends on ...

#042 WHO IS THE HAPPIEST?

Image
A crow lived in the forest and was absolutely satisfied in life. But one day he saw a swan. “This swan is so white,” he thought, “and I am so black. This swan must be the happiest bird in the world.” He expressed his thoughts to the swan. “Actually,” the swan replied, “I was feeling that I was the happiest bird around until I saw a parrot, which has two colors. I now think the parrot is the happiest bird in creation.” The crow then approached the parrot. The parrot explained, “I lived a very happy life until I saw a peacock. I have only two colors, but the peacock has multiple colors.” The crow then visited a peacock in the zoo and saw that hundreds of people had gathered to see him. After the people had left, the crow approached the peacock. “Dear peacock,” the crow said, “you are so beautiful. Every day thousands of people come to see you. When people see me, they immediately shoo me away. I think you are the happiest bird on the planet.” The peacock replied, “I alw...

#010 FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND

Image
One night I had a dream. I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life. For each beautiful scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonged to me, the other to the Lord.   After the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that at many times along the path of my life, especially at the very lowest and saddest times, there was only one set of footprints. This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.  “Lord, you said once I decided to follow you, You’d walk with me all the way. But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life, there was only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me.”  The Lord replied, “ My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. Never, ever,   During your trials and testings, your times of suffering, when ...

#009 WHO SAVED LOVE?

Image
Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love. Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment. When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help. Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said, "Richness, can you take me with you?" Richness answered, "No, I can't. I came from another island, which is far from here, where there is a lot of gold and silver. My boat is full. There is no place here for you." Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. "Vanity, please help me!" "I can't help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered. Sadness was close by so Love asked, "Sadness, let me go with you." ...
