About me


Sandro Chavez Ortiz is a Peruvian teacher of English who has been teaching for almost 10 years. It all started in February 2011 when he came back from the USA, after a great experience where he could travel working on the Rhapsody of the Seas for Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, seeing places like Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sidney in Australia, and Picton, Christchurch, Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin, among others in New Zealand. Then he went to the USA to see his father after ten years, however, he took an adventure going through twenty states starting in Los Angeles California to Mableton in Georgia, by the way Chicago in Illinois and New York were great!, where he studied in Cobb County and worked for Athens Paper and also as a musician at the weekend with a group of Mexican Mariachis because he loves music and the fact that when he was a teenager, he used to play in a rock band, then in an orchestra playing Salsa, Cumbia and Merengue music for a short time and then romantic music like ballads or Mexican music. He also studied informatics in San Marcos University, Bilingual Education in Villarreal University and English at ICPNA but frankly, he learnt English when he worked on the ship and in the USA. He attended some lectures and workshops at Cayetano Heredia University, Cambridge, Richmond, Pearson, Mac Millan, among others institutions.
He's got a gorgeous family that he loves and that is why, he started sharing these beautiful stories to reflect and meditate on life. Hope you find inspiring and can help you in a way or another.
Currently he is working for Britanico which is one of the best language centres in Peru and he is an English Coordinator in Giordano Bruno School which is a Philosophical Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary school that offers a different kind of perspective about education, considering values as a main reason to live and where bullying does not exist.

Our society!!! An old man, his wife and a donkey were going to town. His wife rode on the donkey and the old man walked. As they went along, they passed some people who remarked it was a shame the old man was walking and his wife was riding. The man and his wife thought maybe the critics were right, so they changed positions. Then, later, they passed some people who remarked, "What a shame, he makes his wife walk." So they then decided they'd both walk! Soon they passed some more people who thought they were fools to walk when they had a decent donkey to ride. So, they both rode the donkey.  Now they passed some people who shamed them by saying how awful to put such a load on a poor donkey. The woman and her husband figured they were probably right, so they decided to carry the donkey. As they crossed the bridge, they lost their grip on the animal and he fell into the river and drowned. #004 WHAT IS IT LIKE TO LIVE HERE?

One afternoon, Socrates was standing outside the gates of Athens when he noticed a traveller who had been staring at him for a long time. Socrates asked the man why he had come to Athens. “I am thinking of moving to Athens”, the man said. “What is it like to live here?” He added. Socrates looked at him. “First, would you tell me what it was like in your home city?” The man replied: “Oh, it was awful. Everyone stabs you in the back and wants to steal money from you” Frowning, Socrates told him: “Well, you will find the same thing here. I suggest you go somewhere else” Socrates was standing there a few hours more when another man approached him. This man too had just arrived in Athens and was considering moving to the city. He also asked Socrates, “Can you tell me what it is like to live here?” Socrates asked, “First, would you tell me what it was like to live there where you come from?” “Where I come from, all the people work together and help each other”

#043 THE WOODEN BOWL

A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year-old grandson. The old man’s hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered. The family ate together at the table.  But the elderly grandfather’s shaky hands and failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor. When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth. The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess. “We must do something about father,” said the son. “I’ve had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor.”  So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner. There, Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner. Since Grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl!  When the family glanced in Grandfather’s direction, sometimes he had a tear in his eye as he sat alone. Still, the only words the couple had for him were sharp admonitions when he dropped a fork or spil
