#001 THE KING AND HIS FOUR WIVES

There was a king who had four wives. He loved the fourth wife the most, he gave her the best clothes and bought her any exercise machines she asked for.

He also loved her third wife very much. She was very beautiful, so he always showed her off to his friends; however he was afraid that someday she could go with another man.

He loved his second wife, too.
She was a very nice person, always
patient and his confidant. When he
had problems she helped him.

The King’s first wife was a very
loyal partner and had made great
contributions in maintaining his
wealth and kingdom. However,
the king did not love the first wife
and although she really loved him, he hardly took notice of her.

One day, the king fell ill. Before long, he knew that he was going to die soon. He thought of his luxurious life and told himself, "Now I have four wives with me. But when I die, I'll be alone. How lonely I'll be!"

He asked the fourth wife, "I loved you most, I have bought you the best clothes and showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?"
"No way!" replied the fourth wife and she walked away without another word.

The answer cut like a sharp knife right into the king's heart.
The sad king then asked the third wife, "I have loved you so much for all my life. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?"
"No!" replied the third wife. "Life is so good over here! I'm going to remarry when you die!" The king's heart sank and turned cold.

He then asked the second wife, "I always turned to you for help and you've always helped me out. Now I need your help again. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?"
"I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!" replied the second wife. "At the very most, I can only send you to your grave." The answer came like a bolt of thunder and the king was devastated.

Then a voice called out:
"I'll leave with you. I'll follow you no matter where you go."
The king looked up and there was his first wife. She was so skinny, almost like she suffered from malnutrition. Greatly grieved, the king said, "I should have taken much better care of you while I could have!”

Now the question is what did you understand by this story?

Actually, we all have 4 wives in our lives

a. The fourth wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish in making it look good, it'll leave us when we die.

b. Our third wife? Our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, they all go to others.

c. The second wife is our family and friends. No matter how close they had been there for us when we're alive, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave.

d. The first wife is in fact our soul, often neglected in our pursuit of material, wealth and pleasure.

Please look after your soul, it is everlasting and a treasure God has given us. God Bless you, share it, comment and I'll answer you.

  1. Well, I think that this history talk about the love. Many people believe that we need love of many people but no. Only need the love of yourself.

    1. Interesting! you've got a point, however I consider that more than the love we receive, we should give, now talking about this reflection we need to love ourselves especially our souls instead of things such as money. Our body and friends are special but how about our neglected soul which is everlasting and will be with us forever.

  2. Oh ! That's interesting story !
All this is very important to our life

    1. Of course, but remember the most important is our soul which is everlasting.

  3. Definitely. I totally agree with this story. At the end of our lives, we will only have ourselves. But I also think that while we're living this life, we have to look around for people who love us and support us in every possible way :)

    1. Indeed, we must care about everything that surround us especially our "second wife" family and friends, however how about our soul? Do we really care about what we do, say and share? It is easy to look neat outside but how to clean our souls, is it easy to purify it? Not at all, it's a challenge.

    2. You're right, it's a big challenge, but I personally believe that everything is possible with patience and self-love🙌

    3. Love can do anything, something I forgot to mention was that we must help not only people we know but also people we do not know, otherwise what would be the extraordinary about our lives, what would differ us from the rest? Besides whenever we help, we feel something inexplicable, really hard to explain but gorgeous

  4. Maybe you have many things like friends and money but what about your soul?Sometimes you have to think more about that and not only in material things.

    1. Sure enough, most of people don't care about it. Even us that know it's that important, sometimes we forget how much it matters. It is our duty to keep firmly on the right path.

  5. I totally agree with this!! The soul is the only part which goes wherever you are.

    1. So, it's the most important, but have you wondered if you are taking care of it?

  6. I totally agree and the way to take care of your soul is to perform good actions because they are the right thing to do and not to presume them.

    1. Absolutely, but good actions to everyone, not only to people who are nice to us

  7. This metaphor about life in comparison of the wives it's interesting.however, tge most important of the reflection it's true: how important are the material stuff that we earned on earth or the visual attributes that we own if all of that disappears when we die? That's why it's important that as long as we hace health and life, we must cultivate positive customs in our soul to create a better world for everyone, but most important for us. Great reflection!

    1. Yup Ivanna, needless to say, most people know it but we find it really difficult to follow our principles and be stick to them, because we prioritise meaningless things instead of the ones who are significant. We must be profound thinkers and do what we say 'cus keeping our word should be the most important :)

  8. We live in a world where most people are aware of their body, and their clothes. Leaving aside the most important thing: Your souls, I think one of the best ways to feed our soul is helping other people who need it, be honest with others, trying to make this a better place through small gestures towards others.
And for those who believe in God this is a nice video that makes us reflect on how to feed our soul: https://youtu.be/wA9lfkYjxIw

Thank you for sharing, I'd heard that song but I hadn't watched the video, Jesus Adrian Romero is an excellent singer I always listen to his songs like "Tú estas aquí", "Princesas magicas", "Sumergeme", among others. However my favourite is this one cus I used to listen to it when I was in The USA and those great memories are unforgetable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWhYe3q9-Tc

  10. In my opinion the soul is the part of us to going to live forever also is a God's blessing, the soul is the force and energy to service others, we should learn to see the soul of every person with a look of love leaving body, possessions, family and friends only oneself.

    1. We see eye to eye about the fact that our souls live forever, I appreciate your comment. TC

  11. I agree because I believe that material things such as our possessions or our wealth in the end always leave us whatever we want or not. I also think that it is good to take care of our body to look good, but we must love ourselves as we really are because in the end the only thing that will accompany us to the great tunnel of light of death will be our soul. It is important to keep it happy and not let anyone destroy it

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Right Marco, however nobody can destroy it but God and you know he won't cus he is merciful :)
We must try to be good to other people and merciful as well.

Personally I agree with this reading, maybe I am not one of the people who put it into practice very often but reading these texts make us think and reflate that we must nourish our soul with good habits, good values and helping to the neighbor since it will be the only thing that accompanies us at the time of death. Everything material will remain and will be lost so we spend many efforts to keep it when the time comes, nothing will be ours. I hope these readings make us better people every day and have a better world.

  13. A great story to understand and realize that sometimes we are materialistic, and often we forget the most important thing, the soul, that will accompany us for all the eternity, since everything else we will leave when we die.

  14. It is a story that invites us to reflect on our life and that the most important thing is to develop our being, our essence, our soul. In life we can achieve many things, as mentioned in the story, because we live in a materialistic, egocentric society, with a constant search for pleasure, thinking first of doing and forgetting being. There is nothing more beautiful than working on the best version of yourself every day.
