#028 MISTAKES ARE PART OF LIFE
A teacher wrote slowly on the board:
9 x 1 = 7
9 x 2 = 18
9 x 3 = 27
9 x 4 = 36
9 x 5 = 45
9 x 6 = 54
9 x 7 = 63
9 x 8 = 72
9 x 9 = 81
9 x 10 = 90
9 x 11 = 99
9 x 12 = 108
In the classroom some people realised his mistake and laughed, at the end everybody started to laugh, too.
When everybody finished, the teacher said: "This is the way you see the world, I made a mistake on purpose, just to show you how the majority of people behave when a person makes a mistake, on the contrary nobody praised me or congratulated me for the eleven times I did it correctly."
He added: "People just judge you and laugh at you for making a mistake, that's why many people are afraid of participating in class, now think about other situations in our lives"
We should learn to value people for their merits and success and not to wait for their failures.
This situation is seen very often in schools, in our society and in other parts of the world. This is how problems such as bullying to other children appear and as the story says, they live in fear of participating in classes. Bullying is a big problem that affects these children, both in their childhood and in their future adult life. I strongly believe that parents have to inculcate their children not to make fun of others, to teach them that we all make mistakes and that we must recognize the merits of others so that they can form themselves as good human beings with values and humility :)
ReplyDeleteI do agree, in addition to that some students don't know the enormous potential they have, and even teacher are not aware of it, consequently they are like phantoms in the classroom, anyway hopefully it will change someday if we start to help them to have more self-esteem.
DeleteJudging and laughing about people's mistakes instead of recognising people's merits it's a situation of everyday. This show us how people focus on negatives aspects and don't care about the good things you do, as a result, many people are afraid of making mistake and I consider this is a wrong idea, because the more you make mistakes, the more you will learn of them, or at least you will know how to act and face the problem in the second time.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, this also happens in different situations such as family, relationships, among others.
DeleteI completely agree on that. Personally, I have learned all kinds of things from my mistakes. Making mistakes is the normal human condition and, of course, it’s the way we learn things. So we don't expect to get everything right in our studies at the first time. The point here is like that: Try something, get it wrong, find the reason why we got it wrong, try again doing something different until we get it right. In fact, that’s the key. The key is not to let mistakes get you down or discourage you, but to learn and grow from them; because when we tackle obstacles (like a mistake), we find hidden reserves of courage we didn’t know we had. So, in my opinion, our best teacher is our last mistake.

I partially agree with you, I mean the first part is clear, you got the point, just when you mentioned our best teacher is our last mistake, this is something I don't think the same, of course it teaches us a lot, however what if the mistake it's so big like suicide? What would you learn from it? Anyway thanks for your point of view Noami :)
DeleteI agree that sometimes our society is very "success junkie" and behaves depending on your success. We have to look deeper and know that the road traveled is also very important (although in football is also very relative hahaha)

I'm sorry I didn't get the joke, what do you mean by "in football is also very relative"? Anyway I believe you are right when you say that we have to look deeper, profound love helps us to be empathetic and instead of laughing at others.
Deleteit's the first time that I feel really identified with a text. A lot of times, I don't participate o say something because I hate make mistakes, but these are normal.
ReplyDeleteI think that we live in a world where all people always recognize when you make a mistake, for this reason a lot of persons tries to act in a perfect way. Everybody feel fear of rejection and teasing.
We must change this! Share your ideas in your family, class, or whatever group is fantastic! We live in the XXI century, It is obviously that not all have the same ideas like you. The society in general need to work in two values: the tolerance and empathy.

The people always judge to others persons in this society and don't recognize their merits. I agree with this history because all days I see the same and think about the intents and the merit of get anything wonderfull with effort. I remember when a peruvian football player failed a penalty kick in the World Cup, the people forgot their sacrifice in the eliminatory and who never fail never win in this lif.

DeleteWhen i read this, i felt that i must learn the mistakes don´t make us less, on the contrary, it serves to learn from them and everyone should understand that mistakes don´t mark your life nor should it over shadow your achievements, it only shows that we are humans. We must encourage people to feel safe with the confidence that they won´t be judged and that we won´t celebrate when they fail.
ReplyDeletePersonally, i have felt identified with this text from the beginning to the end, i really feel this.

We see day by day, many people take the initiative laughing at other people's mistakes and not helping, that stops many people to move forward continue to learn from the mistakes that life brings us, as the last part says, "we should learn to value people for their merits and success and not to wait their failure" I agree, it will help all of us grow as a person.
