#066 THE LAW OF THE GARBAGE TRUCK

One day, I hopped into a taxi and took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly, a black car, jumped out of a parking space right in front of us.

My taxi driver slammed the brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked, "Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!" This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck'

He explained, "Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. NEVER take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on with the routine life."

"Don't take their garbage because then you will spread it to other people at work, at home or on the streets." He added

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so...... "Love not only the people who treat you right, but also the ones who don't and pray for them, because we don't know what they are going through"

* As very rightly said quote:
 - Life is 10% what you make and 90% how you take!

  1. Personally, I believe that the message that this story teaches is very useful in everyday life. Every day we deal with people who are grouchy or have no respect for others and are rude, however we decide how much the bad attitude of these people influences in our life. Always as the author tells us we can use "The law of the garbage truck" and not allow ourselves to be contaminated by his bad attitude. Finally "the four agreements" are in my opinion the best tools we have to not allow them to leave part of their garbage with us.

    1. Absolutely, you've got it. Have you ever heard how drivers scream at each other every day in our country? Here in Lima, they always say bad words cus' they are stressed due to traffic jams and what is worse they are almost always in a rush so they feel frustrated, besides people have problems. We shouldn't judge them but trying to understand why they are like that or do those kind of these like yelling or saying bad words even when it is not the right thing. Well, about the four agreements, do you imagine if all people would do them? How different life would be. Gossips are one of the worst things that exist as well as hypocrisy. Take care, it was nice to meet you. See you.

  2. In my personal opinion, this would be an excellent teaching for many Peruvians.
Most drivers in Peru or Lima are garbage trucks.
I live it, and thanks to this story, I hope to apply it also to my daily life.
Thank you very much to the person who created this story.

    1. Very true the experience that is described, one should not allow another person to mess up the day.
Given the bad vibes of the people it is better to stay calm

  4. From my point of view, this story tries to have empathy, since currently people live stressed by their work, they maintain a family, at school, problems with their friends, etc. and they do not know how to handle them, that's why they tend to be exalted by anything. The message of this is that we should not wish evil on anyone, but we should pray for them so they can find happiness in their environment. And we should not let them burden us with their problems, but we can advise them or be their support for those situations. He have to stay strong and cheerful, because life is to short and we have to live it.

  5. I think that we always can change fury with a small smile, because Profesionals said that If anyone is angry all the time, it's probably that tis person is going to life less time than other people.
In my opinion, is easy to be happy but the problem is that you could eliminate the fury, but you mind blocked your brain, because your mind said "It's difficult to smile when you are angry or sad". But it's wrong. You can only said " DON'T WORRY ABOUT A THING, CAUSE EVERY LITTLE THING GONNA BE ALRIGHT " like Bob Marley said.

  6. In my opinion this situation is generated if you have a bad day
and you is streesed for your problems is probaly a bad reaction whith other people
but is necessary you control this emotions and try to smile ever like a frase "A bad time good face".
In this city the people live streesed but this story teach me to be a patient person, in this city is difficult but it's not imposible.

  7. I saw this history in video 2 years ago, and at this moment, I thought it is real history.
I have driving my car for 15 years and all the time I have a problem with bad drivers. Is necessary to take control when we have a problem on the highway.
You say the truth because most drivers have a full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. But if We have control of emotions, we don't affect families, Friends or workplace. regards

  8. From my point of view, you will always find people in a bad mood, but it's in each of us not to be influenced by the bad attitudes of people, it's important to look for the positive side and ignore the bad so that your days aren't ruined because you will always find "a garbage truck".
    Remember: the smile is free.:)
