#069 A POUND OF BUTTER

This is a really short story but so meaningful... Honesty is the main point here but there are more things hidden which we can get if we analise it carefully.

There was a farmer who sold a pound of butter to a baker. One day the baker decided to weigh the butter to see if he was getting the right amount, which he wasn’t. Angry about this, he took the farmer to court.

The judge asked the farmer if he was using any measure to weigh the butter. The farmer replied, “Honour, I am primitive. I don’t have a proper measure, but I do have a scale.”

The judge asked, “Then how do you weigh the butter?”
The farmer replied;
“Your Honor, long before the baker started buying butter from me, I have been buying a pound loaf of bread from him. Every day when the baker brings the bread, I put it on the scale and give him the same weight in butter. If anyone is to be blamed, it is the baker.”

Moral of the story: In life, you get what you give. Don’t try and cheat others. In addition to this, we could say that many times we judge others without seeing ourselves.

  1. In this story we can understand that we receive from life what we give to others. Honesty or dishonesty become habits with time and when we get used to them. We only deceive ourselves. So
if children are taught the value of justice maybe the world would be different and some big problems can be solved in the best way.

  2. I have had similar situations about this story. It is true that you are treated like you treat other people and also the life gives you back the bad things that you did in your life.
You cannot judge to another person because you do not know what this person is passing in his/her life. Try to be kind and always humble with people because good things that you do in the life give you back you big rewards in the future.

  3. This story makes us reflect on our daily actions, because in the life all the bad things you give to someone, in the end returns to you. Also, you never have to judge others without even knowing how they really are. Many times it's easy to criticize others, without realizing that you may be even worse. The same happens with cheating, you shouldn't do to others what you don't want them to do to you.
You must treat others with honesty and kindness, and you will see that your good actions will have many beneficts in your life.

  4. I think this story is too interesting, because the men deceive mutually and the worst is that they know the truth, but they continue to do.
we are used to when a person does something bad to us, we return it in the same way and this is very bad, because if we keep doing that, we will lose the few values that we have left in our society.

  5. In this story, we can see how life gives back what you give, if you treat someone in a bad way they will treat you in the same way, if you do not like how they treat you, be grateful, do not cause problems, help others and you will see how the vast majority of people will respect you and be good to you.
but if you do the opposite they will do the same with you.
think your actions well and look at who and how you treat.
do what I told you and you will notice the difference.

  7. Few days ago, I learned a Sayings that What goes around…comes around, Therefore, it is very important that your actions reflect exactly what you are, a person with ethics, values and respect for others, maybe many of us expect more than what we really deserve.
Finally, the life comes from our point of view, our experiences and the way we see the things, but we also have to be tolerant and respect other customs and beliefs, if so, we will not judge before look at ourselves.
